When Lady Gaga Walks Into Your Release Party (Red Hot Trilli Peppers)
Picture this… you are on stage performing (and celebrating the release of your new project). The crowd is feeling your set, you are throwing t-shirts into the audience, jumping around like a crazy person and having the time of your life. Than there is a slight disturbance in the force. You look off to the left towards the VIP section and see large men – VERY large men. They are escorting what appears to be a blonde dreaded headed zombie in sunglasses. Than you realize – it’s Lady Gaga, and she looks awful. Like she could die at any moment. That happened, and is described far more eloquently by Josh at Uproxx. Check the article he wrote about it right HERE… It was an insane night that I will never forget – other highlights include Diddy dancing on a table, Wiz Khalifa jumping up for a guest set with Snoop Dogg, and the founder of Uproxx introducing me to Talib Kweli, telling him that I will be the “next Coachella” headliner. From your lips to the festival’s god’s ears, buddy.

Riding high on the critical and internet success from November’s Ballin’ Oates, The Melker Project is at it again with Red Hot Trilli Peppers. “On this epic offering, The Melker Project mixes six Red Hot Chili Peppers classics with the likes of Future, 2 Chainz, Dr. Dre, Tupac and everyone in between.” (BroBible).
His 5th EP focusing on a single classic artist, Red Hot Trilli Peppers was a formidable project. “I’ve been listening to the Chili Peppers since I was in middle school, and have always wanted to remix their songs – they’re the sh#t! The breadth of their catalogue is astounding, so it was tough to choose the perfect tracks.” Melker says.
The Melker Project’s methods are truly a labor of love, as he replays most of the individual instruments with updated sounds and synths. He then uses these new sounds to remix the tracks, and later reincorporates samples from the original Chili Peppers songs. After all of this is done, he combines his new versions with appropriate vocals. Melker explains, ”In the case of ‘Breaking The Girl,’ I decided to do a straight up remix with the vocal being the only element of the original track.”

THIS IS HAPPENING. It’s going to be awesome. That once-in-a-lifetime kind of awesome. The kind that causes years of depression and subsequent therapy for those who miss it. Ok, that was a bit dramatic. I am, however, really excited for this event. If you are in Austin for SXSW, then you must come by.
