Mark Ronson emailed me a few weeks ago to send over a high quality version of the mashup that I did of his epic track Stop Me alongside Adele’s Rolling In The Deep. I was hugely flattered – it’s rare that an original artist finds a bootleg of their own song and gives it their stamp of approval! He shared it with the world on his BBC Radio Show! It’s no secret that JAYELAUDIO.COM is one of my favorite blogs on these here internets. I was pleasantly surprised today when a message arrived in my electronic mail box from Justin, the man behind the blog. It seems that he has put together a mixtape of all of the new and relevant hip hop that you could ever want. Get it (and read about it) here….
After over 100K listens, my most popular remix was removed from soundcloud for copyright infringement. I will spend some time formulating my thoughts on this more thoroughly in the near future, and relaying my plans to avoid this sort of thing in the future. Friday afternoon is a good time to gather up some free jams to get you through the weekend. A few days ago, pigeonsandplanes.com shared this great list of “10 free songs you should download right now.” One of my tracks just happens to be there… So go do it already! CLICK HERE TO LISTEN.
Covering a famous song is a huge risk. These tracks generally come across as cheap imitations or bad karaoke performances. I just sounded like Simon Cowell. Anyhoo, this cover is really awesome, and totally different than the original. You can judge the quality for yourself, but it really “speaks” to me, which is more than I can say for the female population of the planet.
