A great iPhone video capturing my mashup of The Cornell University Alma Mater and A Milli, by Lil’ Wayne. This was shot from backstage, and captures the absolute mayhem that was this show. It still gives me chills to watch this!
The Cornell University Alma Mater Mashup – Live Video from The Melker Project
Marley Marl – Recreating LL Cool J’s ‘Mama Said Knock You Out’ w/ Ableton + APC40
I cannot even being to express how awesome this is. The King of Classics, Marley Marl, gives a bit of background on the making of the seminal LL Cool J hit, “Mama Said Know You Out,” but adds a modern twist by loading the samples into Ableton.
I honestly had no idea that they used filters etc. in this manner to make the sounds. With all of my production knowledge, I learned a ton about how to make a true sampled hip hop beat.
Check it out and let me know what you think.
The Sign (The Melker Project Mix) – Ace Of Base
In an effort to share music that I made before this site existed, I will regularly be posting past mashups/remixes/edits. If you were alive in the 90s, than you know that Ace of Base was/is awesome, and that this song was the peak of said awesomeness. Now it has some new drums. And is even more awesome. Awesomer, if you will.
The Cornell University Alma Mater Vs. A Milli
I created this mashup as the intro for my show at Cornell last weekend. The 10,000 guests seemed to enjoy it immensely, so I have decided to share it with the world. So without further adieu… the Ivy League gets CRUNK.

Hipset.com – Actually see the content you “like” on Facebook!
For those of you who are not aware, you see very little of the content that you “like” on facebook. I am talkin’ less than 10%. When you click that “like” button on a musicians page, their content gets buried in your feed, because facebook wants them to pay to promote their posts etc. Hipset is putting the power back in the hands of the people. With this site/FB app, you will see ALL of the content from the bands and musicians that you have chosen to like. Check it out, you will be glad that you did!
Precious 2, Starring Rick Ross
You know I love a good excuse to make fun of Rick Ross, right? I mean, I like his music and he has the fortune to rap over some of the best beats in the game… but that doesn’t mean that I won’t mock him and his fake “Maybach lifestyle” whenever I get the chance. This is the same rapper who sat 2 rows in front of me in coach on a Jetblue flight, and then drove away in a Chrysler – Ricky “Exit Row” Zay…. Isn’t he PRECIOUS?
Turntable lab remix contest presented by legitmix.com
From Turntable Lab:
When I brought up the idea of a TTL Remix Contest, the general reaction was “you’ve guys have never done one”?
Yes, it’s true. This is our first remix contest and we’re exicited about the format.
1)
We’ve picked an exciting list of classics to remix. Don’t be limited by the genre of the originals, any good producer could kill these.
2)
We rounded up a pretty awesome set of prizes. And there’s 15 winners + 1 Grand Champion!
3)
We hooked up with Legitmix.com so you can present and sell your remixes LEGALLY. If you’re not familiar with Legitmix, it’s an automated service that allows you to sell your own remixes, edits, reworks, or DJ mixes. So when you’re done with your creation, upload it to Legitmix.com, tag it for the contest, and you can actually sell your creations. (tip for Soundcloud users: point those buy links to your Legitmix file to monetize your hard work).
Akai Professional APC 40. I Love You.
I just thought that I would express my love for this little controller that has become such a fundamental part of my life. Did I used to hate on Ableton? Yes. Did I do my old mixes live? Yes. Have I started to produce in Ableton and use this to launch clips live? Yes.
I never thought that I would be able to incorporate anything beyond Serato into my live set – those who know me know that I am a purist, and love the feel and control of vinyl. However, using this IN CONJUNCTION with my normal set up has opened endless doors.
I would NEVER only use Ableton, or a controller to DJ, just for the record.
APC40, I LOVE YOU.
Air Jordan IV “Fire Red” Retro
Yes, I know that being obsessed with shoes is juvenile. Yes, I have gotten rid of hundreds of pairs of sneakers over the past few years. Yes, it hurt. Well, the obsession is back, and it has returned in the form of these heavenly classics, which transport me back to 7th grade, when I begged my mom to buy me these shoes at The Athlete’s Foot in the Oaks Mall. She said yes – and now I have them again.
8/11/12 Show Rescheduled for 11/9/12
Unfortunately, the show for this Saturday at Highline Ballroom was officially canceled and pushed back a few months. This is obviously a huge disappointment for me, as it was to be my first big NYC show. I apologize to all of you who purchased tickets, and hope you can make it on the new date.
