30 Seconds to Mars includes The Melker Project on their iheartradio playlist

30-Seconds-To-Mars-Jared-LetoMan, I use to love “My So Called Life.” Clare Danes was so mysterious. Ok, I actually never watched it, but it seemed like something I should have liked. I did think Jared Leto was awesome in Requiem For A Dream and American Psycho. And now, apparently, he thinks I am awesome too. In his personally curated (according to a contact at iheartradio) guest DJ playlist, he chose to include one of my tracks from SKEETWOOD MAC – “Feelin’ The Landslide.” So yeah, that’s pretty cool…. When I Was Famous In Japan – Melker + Afra + Kreva + Toshinobu Kubota

Remember when I was famous in Japan? Probably not! Once upon a time, I lived in Japan, touring with Toshi Kubota, arguably the biggest artist in the country. MTV decided to give him an “Icon” award, so we played a show where famous Japanese artists covered his songs and performed in his honor. One of the cooler segments was a DJ + beatbox solo, featuring myself, Afra (famous Japanese beatboxer) and Kreva (famous Japanese rapper). I still find this quite entertaining.

High For This Vs. Pop Bottles

Volume 1 contains one of my favorite joints, “High For This Vs. Let’s “bring it back, y’all, bring it back y’all, bring it back, heeeere we go.

Juicy Royals Ft. Lorde & The Notorious B.I.G.

www.themelkerproject.comRELEASED TODAY! “Juicy Royals Ft. Lorde & The Notorious B.I.G.” is my newest remix, and features “Royals” by Lorde and “Juicy” by Biggie. The track started as a remix of Lorde. I decided to chop and screw her vocals (popped and screwed, as I call it!) and create an original beat.  When I completed the remix, I felt that something was missing, something that would make it more my signature style… what was missing, of course was Biggie. The songs mesh well together, both musically and thematically.

The song was premiered on one of my favorite blogs, SURVIVING THE GOLDEN AGE. You can check out the post HERE.

The track is available for free stream on soundcloud, and for sale on Legitmix, an incredible new platform that allows remixers like myself to distribute our work without fear of takedowns and copyright issues. Selling the track on Legitmix allows me to distribute my work legally, while guaranteeing that Lorde and Biggie (his estate, at least!) get paid for the samples… Check it out here!

Juicy Royals – Available Monday at 12 PM EST

www.themelkerproject.comThis Monday, 10/14/13, I will be releasing a new remix and mashup called “Juicy Royals” on Surviving The Golden Age, and incredible blog that has supported my work for years.

My intention was to compose a remix of Royals, by Lorde.  I chopped and screwed her vocals to make her sound more manly, and built an entirely new beat around the newly pitched track. Although I was happy with the new sound, I felt it was missing something – so I added Biggie! The two songs work well together musically, but also compliment each other thematically – Royals being about the stupidity of hip hop opulence, and Juicy being the original “Started From The Bottom” (Drake sucks) story. The result is a completely original remix AND mashup.

Look for “Juicy Royals,” this Monday!
