There has been much ado (about nothing, in my humble opinion), about the destruction of “trap music” by (mostly white) EDM producers. I have attached an interview with Lōtic, a somewhat self-proclaimed expert on the subject. The way he speaks, you would think that producers were destroying Chopin Nocturnes and Miles Davis compositions. The fact is, Trap Music itself was a very small genre of hip hop that is now exploding to the masses. As a champion of the sound, I would think that Lotic would be excited to see producers taking Trap and expanding the definitions – which, to me, is what production and remixing are all about. I mean, are chopped and screwed tracks and songs about getting wasted on Robitussin “sacred?” You can judge for yourself…
