Open (Strawberry) Letter Ft. Jay-Z, Shuggie Otis & Alex Young

openletterThe world was given a gift today – an unexpected and imperial rant from Jay-Z, recorded in one night with Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. “Open Letter,” is a straight up diss track, addressing politicians who criticized him for visiting Cuba, critics who have commented on his situation with The Nets and haters in general. Of course, I wanted to be the first to drop a remix.

I added a dope trap beat (from Relapse, by Alex Young) and some samples from Shuggie Otis’s mega hit, “Strawberry Letter 23.” I give you “Open (Strawberry) Letter.” Let me know what you think. ALSO AVAILABLE ON HYPEM HERE – PLEASE HEART AND SHARE!

An oldie but goodie… About a year and a half ago, DJ Ayres asked me to contribute a mix to his “Heavy Warmup” series. The idea was to create an hour of music that would be perfect for the beginning of a club night – something moody and fun to warmup the crowd up for the headliner.
