Ballin’ Oates, Coming NEXT WEEK!

BALLIN OATESFor the third project in my series of classic EPs, I focused on the incredible music of Hall & Oates.  The full project, “BALLIN’ OATES,” is coming next week, and I wanted to share the amazing album cover by Aaron at Lemon, an incredibly talented artist who’s work is not to be missed. The first track will be released on Monday – get ready! In case you missed the first two EPs, you can get SKEETWOOD MAC here, and THE SKEETLES here.

#TBT Volume 2 – Dirt Off Your Shoulder Vs. Born To Die – Jay-Z Vs. Lana Del Rey

Jay-Z Vs. Lana Del Rey

#TBT Volume 2! This week’s track was one of my first big “hits” as The Melker Project. Lana Del Rey had just hit the scene, so I quickly jumped on the remix bandwagon. After hearing “Born To Die” for the first time, I realized that it was the perfect song to choose from her album – the infectious vocals and spooky instrumentation were ripe for reinvention. The result was a mashup/remix of Jay-Z’s “Dirt Off Your Shoulders,” Lana’s “Born To Die,” Jamie Foxx and Rick Ross’s “Living Better Now” and Ice Cube’s “I Rep The West,” with some self produced elements.

Video – The Melker Project Live Show (W/ Travie McCoy)

I am fortunate that my studio in Miami is in the Florida Film House. This talented collective of creative visionaries is responsible for a number of the music videos you see on your television, as well as the commercials that interrupt your favorite sporting event. They were kind enough to shoot some footage of my recent shows and put together this quick little montage. Extra shout out to YoYo, who put this entire thing together. Music from “The Melker Project 3.” Peep game.

Tuesday Inspiration – Nice & Smooth “Sometimes I Rhyme Slow”

What is there to say? This is hands down one of my favorite songs of all time. The beat is an incredible flip of Tracy Chapman’s track “Fast Car” and is exactly the kind of sampling that inspires my work.  Enjoy this classic – they don’t make em’ like they used to!
